The Advancing Early Career Researchers and Scholars (AECRS) Programme hosted a vibrant two-day gathering on 27–28 November 2025, bringing together mentors, mentees, Programme Advisory Committee members, institutional Champions, and strategic partners from across the higher education sector.
The Gala Dinner honoured the collective achievements of the AECRS community — from the growth of Thuso Connect to the impact of mentor–mentee relationships — while recognising individuals whose dedication has shaped the programme since inception. The evening celebrated progress, collaboration and the shared commitment to strengthening South Africa’s research capacity.
The following day, the AECRS Workshop focused on Building on Progress, Co-creating 2026. Participants engaged in robust discussions on enhancing Thuso Connect and Thuso Resources, strengthening cross-institutional collaboration, and identifying actionable priorities for the next phase of the programme. Insightful contributions from mentors, early-career researchers, Champions, and project leaders underscored the collective vision driving AECRS forward.
