The draft Higher Education Qualifications Sub-Framework, which is currently out for comment, suggests that up to 120 credits can be allocated to coursework in the doctorate.

Join us to hear from those who have implemented coursework in the doctorate across five countries and multiple disciplines. They will share the strengths and weaknesses of this approach and offer insights into how to ensure that the coursework enables doctorate candidates to both make a “contribution at the frontiers of their discipline or field” and attain the graduate attributes specified in the national doctoral standard.

Speakers:

  1. Prof Paul Ashwin – Professor of Higher Education, Lancaster University, England
  2. Prof Diane Negra – Professor of Film Studies and Screen Culture, University College Dublin, Ireland
  3. Dr Patrick O. Onyango – Dean of Graduate Studies, Maseno University, Kenya
  4. Prof Marie Paretti – Professor of Engineering Education, Virgina Tech, USA
  5. Prof Christine Teelken – Professor of Organization Sciences, Vrije Universiteit, Netherlands
